Catching up with my little cousin

Chesney has just lost her 3rd tooth, slowly and steadily she is is losing them. A few weeks ago she was going to ask the tooth fairy to move in with us upon her visit to collect Chesney's tooth. She made her a house out of boxes, made furniture, wrote a note inviting her to come. But then she decided it would be too much work taking care of a fairy. Thank goodness, I was going crazy trying to come up with a note to write from the tooth fairy explaining why she couldn't stay. Good things kids move on quickly from things.

Chesney had her best friend, Cooper, come for a sleepover a couple of weeks ago. Cooper slept in logans bed and Chesney was in hers. It was very cute listening to them talking and telling jokes to each other. Chesney is sure they will one day be married, we'll see.

I'm a Pinkie

Yes, you read correctly- I am a pinkie. For the second year in a row I participated in the Triathlon Pink here in Sydney. It is an event to support breast cancer research. Pink rules the day and the participants are in fact called Pinkies- Says so on the t-shirt I received, yup. It was a great day- started out a bit chilly and running from the swim to the transition was brrrrr. But by the run it was sunny and warm. Just my two friends and I (and about 1400 other pinkies).

Here is the transition area where we ran to in between each leg of the race to change into our gear for the next leg. We really needed to pay attention to where our bikes were or risk losing them in the sea.
My friends- Karen and Justine
Coming in to the finish line- my ever present supporters there to cheer me on to the finish
So proud of their mum

Freaky

This morning we woke up and could see a very strange light coming through the blinds, then we opened the blinds and were greeted with a very red sky from a dust storm that brewed up over the night and covered most of New South Wales. Good thing I am not one of those ultra religious people or I might see this at the coming of the end. Although...there was an earthquake in Victoria yesterday and fires in Queensland...hmmmmmm. Anywho- it is clearing nicely and the dust is settling all over, glad I closed the windows before bed last night...some friends were not so lucky.

Slow and Steady Finishes the Race

Today I completed the annual 9km Sydney Harbour Bridge Run. It was definitely a challenge to me, but I put on my visor and tied my running shoes and off I went over the harbour bridge, through the gardens and finished at the Opera House. The event today consisted of four events, a marathon, half marathon, 9km run and 4km run. 33,000 people in total competed in the races and it was fantastic to be a part of it. It was a very warm, sunny day and I completed the run in an hour and a quarter. Like I said- slow and steady finishes the race.

Right after the race finished...am....I....buggered

Apparently waiting for me in the hot sun to finish the race had proven to much for the kids and they just didn't seem to have the enthusiasm one would expect.

My friend, Michelle and I after the race.
Chesney found a great tree to climb. I would have joined her but I was to busy sitting on the ground stiffening up.

Here we are after the race, waiting for the train to go home.
All and all a great day. My next race? on Saturday next week I am competing in a triathlon. wish me luck- should be a fun time.

Father's Day Fun

This past Sunday Australians everywhere celebrated Dad. Including us. We went on a picnic to Clive Park and climbed around on the rocky beach of Middle Harbour. Logan gave Daddy his usual present- some kind of toy for him to play with and Chesney gave Dad some funky cups with swirly straws in them. It was a beautiful sunny perfect day.

Our Budding Artist

Chesney has started in a weekly art class at the local community centre. she has been on the waitlist for the class since February so when a spot came available we jumped at it. She loves going to the class and has turned out some pretty good pieces of art if I do say so myself. I think these will look good framed and hung in our house. Don't you?

A drawing she did of her grandpa Bob and Grandma Martha, complete with grandma's lipstick and grandpa's mustache.
Chesney has also drawn a picture of what she plans on doing with her grandparents when they visit over Christmas. Get ready to hang out on the beach and catch some waves on the surfboard, grandpa!

"Mom, I have little boobies. You have BIG boobies, and I have little ones." thanks for noticing, Logie

Chesney- "Girls are great and boys are stinky"
Logan- "Yup that's right, Ches. I am stinky- I toot a lot"
Oh, Logan that is soooo true
